Wednesday Wishing Well

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and so instead of telling you what I'm wishing for, it's going to be a more thankful edition. I've made no secret of my tough year jobwise, but that's no reason for me to be unthankful. I really do have a ton to be thankful for...let's start with:

1. A roof over my head, food to eat; i have all the basics and more.

2. A family that loves me.

3. Friends that put up with me. I can be pretty crazy sometimes, often joking with them about the voices in my head

4. The opportunity to give back and serve others in the community.

5. With a lack of finances, I'm thankful that (knock on wood) there have been no serious or unexpected financial burdens.

6. Thanks to beauty blogs and the internet in general for keeping me busy with reading material.

7 I'm thankful I'll get to take a mini-vacation to see my sister and brother-in-law. [insert squeal here!]

Today's wishing well is short , earlier than usual, and ohly consists of one wish. It's personal and simply is this: I have the flu and wish for my healthy body back. I have ceased any beauty habits as I simply try to rest and keep my head somewhat clear. I had set up posts earlier in the week, that's why some posts went out, even though I've been sick since Saturday night. Right now, all I want to do is crawl back into bed.

All right, the week is half over. What have I done? Applied to a couple of jobs and not much else. Hopefully your week has been more productive, but there are still two days left to make something of. So here's my wishes.

1. In all seriousness, my house has recently had an ant problem. I wish they would just go away.

2. I want to attend the Ellen DeGeneres show. Being unemployed has given me lots of time and I TIVO her show every day. She makes me laugh and for an hour, I can temporarily forget my troubles and just laugh. I think it would be so much fun to see it live.

3. I wish there was an easy way to find a perfect foundation. It would hide all my redness, give me a flawless complexion and match perfectly. Why is it that department stores are so bright with unnatural lighting? I think the lighting in stores tends to make you look lighter than usual, so before you buy: always, always, test the shade and walk outside to see how it looks.

Okay, it's Wednesday, I'm back to blogging, so let's bring back the wishing! As a reminder, every Wednesday (err..some Wednesdays), I'm going to post three wishes:

1. A job. Where are you hiding? and Why? Yes, i still wish i had a job.

2. I wish that I could be a more giving person. Part of it is my financial situation, but hopefully in general, I want to be generous with my time and my life.

3.I want this Temptu Airbrush Foundation system from Sephora. Not only do i want to try it on myself, I want to use it on everyone. Who doesn't want flawless skin? $225 for the airbrush/compressor plus $55 for the foundations. Yikes!

Ack! It's actually 4:53 as I write this week's Wednesday Wishing Well post. How did I forget about it? So this really is on the fly...what I'm hoping for this week.

1. I wish I had a job. It's been that kind of week.

2. I hope that I can love my friends as much as they love me. A few friends have show me some amazing qualities and I can only pray that I am half the friend they are.

3. I wish I had more of an arch in my eyebrows. Silly, but sometimes true.

The weather in the Bay Area has been funky..close to 100 degree weather a week ago, and now unseasonably cool. No wonder my body got sick.

So what's on the wish list for this week?
1. My car needs a major maintenance service. Nothing's broken as far as I know, here's hoping it'll stay that way with a routine tune-up. I have a certain dollar amount budgeted and I would prefer not to spend much more than that.

2. I want to learn how to cook. I'm not bad, I just wish I could expand my skillset.

3. I wish I had a crease in my eyelid. This is the one wish I know will never come true. Some of the other ones COULD happen at a price and theoretically, one could have surgery for the added crease, but I'm not considering that. Oh wells, my Asian eyes are here to stay and I'm happy to share makeup tips with those like me.

Ahhh Wednesday. Much cooler in the Bay Area today, after the 90+ degree weather we had on Monday and Tuesday. I've emerged a little less pasty white, so I'll more summer ready

Did you achieve any of your wishes from last week? My room is still a mess, guess I should get on that again =) But on to this week's wishes.

1. I wish weeds didn't grow. I spent the morning weeding the yard and I think I'm going to be sore tomorrow. (sorry, not really something realistic or practical, but very current this week)

2. I wish I knew how to fix cars, do the plumbing, remodel the bathroom myself. Basically, I wish I was more handy.

3. I wish I could afford those two Bobbi Brown foundation and lipstick palettes I showed you last week. But really, I can spend my nearly $500 somewhere else. Why can't makeup be cheap (and of superb quality!)?

Another week. I think I need to stop watching the news, it seems like there's just more bad news every day. Yes, I wish everything would just magically get better, but I guess things don't just happen overnight in this wrold.

As a reminder, the WWW series is about 3 wishes:

1. I really want to finish cleaning my room. It seems I say that nearly every week. No excuses, I just need to do it.

2. I wish the San Francisco Giants would win the World Series.

3. Anything by Kate Somerville, especially ExfoliKate. Ms. Somerville runs a spa in Hollywood and is renowned for her treatments to the stars. I don't forsee any celebrity treatments in my future, nor can I afford an $85 exfoliator.

Today is the start of a new series that will run every Wednesday. By the time you read this, your work week will be more than half over, which is what I know you're wishing for right? So what's this series about? I'm going to include three wishes every week:
1. What I wish for this week (something pretty practical).
2. What I wish for in life (hopes and dreams, however unrealistic)
3. What I wish for in the beauty world, but probably will never have.

So to start off this is what I'm wishing for this week:
1. I want to get this work/no work situation resolved. Suffice to say that new job I took 3 weeks ago isn't all that. A long sotry and really not worth my time to obssess over anymore.

2. I wish the economy would improve. So many people are hurting right now and I pray that it will pick up soon.

3. I wish I had a Clairsonic Brush. Have you seen these at Sephora or Nordstrom's? I was able to try one out on my hand and man, I loved it. But at $195, just a wish at this point. It's got the same vibrating motion as a Sonicare toothbrush and is supposed to really help deep clean your skin. You can use it on your face and body.
